. . . on what divides and unites the nation.

The battle for e-lection.

Malaysia’s most famous son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin said that Umno will make efforts to strengthen its influence in the virtual world two days after the DAP announced its ‘e-campaign’ for votes.

Excerpts from Malaysiakini:

“This is an issue that we are working to address immediately because we know that the Internet is a medium of communication that is becoming increasingly important and influential in today’s world,” he said.

He added that Umno and BN view the opposition’s campaign on the Internet seriously.

Khairy, who is also the son-in-law of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, said the Internet is a way of reaching out to young voters.

“We must have a presence in this area, as otherwise we stand to lose support from the younger generation who use the Internet as their primary source of information.

“We are observing developments closely to ensure that our message will be heard clearly,” he added.

Kinda makes it hypocritical eh?

First he says he loves the internet and blogging is like the tool of the future. Then says he hates it cos it spreads rumours and lies and bloggers are monkeys bla bla. Now back to embracing the bloody thing. Geez, make up your mind KJ! One thing that annoys me more than having an in-grown nail is a fickle politician.

But hey, if Umno wants to fight this battle with DAP then bring it on. They are reminded that they are going against Jeff (especially with this awesome campaign idea by Kenny Sia) and all the bloggers and people slighted by Barisan Nasional, Umno and Khairy’s way.

And I won’t be surprised by the e-campaign strategies employed by dirty BN and UMNO i.e. e-bribe, e-threat, e-cheat, e-phantom voters, e-KFC, e-sewing machines e-tc.

Nyek nyek.

And for those who have not been convinced that the government has failed us, we should ask this man.

The Taman Jaya LRT station vagrant wearing the shirt says it all. Barison Nasional.
No. 33. Taman Medan.

Register to vote, I assure you it’s still not too late. Those in Klang Valley, your best bet is Telawi Bangsar Baru’s post office that is open til 10pm on Saturday! All else, do it on Monday at the post office or a Elections Commission office near you.

I’m not a fan of the e-campaign and in fact I do not know much about it (just yet). I saw you not too long ago at the Bloggers’ Buff 2007 (although I did not have the chance to have a talk with you personally) and i wrote something about these two just a few minutes ago:

I’m spreading my words, because I’m like you: Saya anak bangsa Malaysia.

Hi again. :-) Did I mention about using some Web 2.0 stuffs in the Bloggers’ Buff? Check this out, it’s Jyte, a claim saying that “BN is going to win the coming election!”, and it needs opinions from the people:

    Hi Polytikus,
I know you are journalist for M’siakini. What about giving pressure to the police to take action on all the report reported to the police by Ronnie Liu regarding the seditious comments in the PM’s website. If this is gone un-noticed, then it is not very fair for those who have been called to the police for seditious comment. Nobody is above the law.
