This is our police.
Here are some stats. Figures attributable to Mkini.
Bersih rally: 40,000 people attended. 29 arrested. 17 charged. Tears gas, water cannons and FRU deployed.
Hindraf rally: 30,000 people attended. 400 arrested. 89 charged. 5 under ISA detention. Tears gas, water cannons and FRU deployed.
Bersih handing of memorandum at Parliament: Total number unclear as roads were blocked all the way to Parliament. 26 arrested. 10 charged. FRU deployed.
Hindraf delivery of roses to PM at Parliament: Roads were blocked all the way to Parliament. 300 people gathered in the city centre. 200 arrested. Tears gas, water cannons and FRU deployed.
Seriously, is it me or are the police getting braver and have orders to arrest on sight? And from the numbers, they are extra harsh on Hindraf despite knowing that it is a gathering for little children bringing roses to the PM. I don’t know about you, it appears he isn’t listening to the children or us.

Express your displeasure. After all, his ministry promises to put society before self.

Our voices are obviously not being heard on the streets or the media. Let’s step it up online and by word of mouth. We can start by leafletting. Seeks inspiration here and here. Forward the leaflets to your friends online. Print and distribute them offline.
Whatever it is, just keep passing it around.
I went to cut my hair today at A Cut Above for a trim and I chit chatted to the hairdresser. She’s a voter in Titiwangsa but now lives in OUG. She spoke about crime and asked me about Hindraf after I told her I was a journalist. She said she’s sick of how things are being governed. There was another guy and his hairdresser on my left. They were complaining about the cost of living and that they are sure that petrol prices will increase after the elections.
They will most probably be right. Rumours has it (from media circles and well placed Petronas source) … the hike will take place immediately after elections and the increase will be between 40 to 50 sen. I heard from another journalist, the idea of a potential 58 sen hike has been thrown around. And what do we all know about rumours in Malaysia. They are often true.
Quoting my hairdresser: You think people are stupid? We know what’s happening.
I sure hope so.

AAB upon assuming PMship promised to clean up corruption in the police force. After 4/5 years, Malaysia turned into a police state.
E-mail /letters of appeals to the IGP/PM will not work. Everyone knows that (for sorry looking country like Malaysia).

The truth needs to reach more people.
And these people should empower themselves to vote.

“Quoting my hairdresser: You think people are stupid? We know what’s happening.”
I hope so too. I wish they know which one they should cross out in the coming election.
We had enough. It’s time for a change.
