squeak. speak. roar!

. . . on what divides and unites the nation.

Donations.

Dear friends,

The opposition needs funds to put up a good fight against the mighty meanie BN machinery. Words elude my right now and I can only urge my readers and friends who are scared to contribute energy and effort to instead try to help build a better Malaysia by monetary means. Prompt I know, I need my ZZZs now. lol.

Here are some details for Jeff Ooi’s campaign (sokong blogger!):

After weeks of rigorous groundwork, I find myself very vulnerable facing this General Election. The BN machinery, with $$$ to throw, is immensely formidable.

Dearest Malaysians & fellow supporters,

The time is near for us to chart our nation’s destiny in the 12th General Elections where you can tell the next government what laws and policies are acceptable and what aren’t. The DAP is hopefully your choice of political vehicle to drive home such important points.

With limited resources, we are punching several levels above our weight and we hope, with you help, we will put in a sublime performance in this crucial round.

We urge you to help finance our election campaign. We are short of everything, from volunteers to funds; but we are not short of determination to help make Malaysia a better home for you and I. Remember, we are all in this together

    Ms. Poly,

Well, I would sure as hell put my weight behind the Opposition if I could vote.

Unfortunately I cannot vote, and I have my doubts now. First we hear issues about our biased media; and now I see political bloggers being the mirror of the newspapers.

I’ve never condoned black propaganda, but nowadays I see political bloggers (who seem to be the face of the opposition) being utter bitches.

Please put my mind to rest and explain a little.

    Danke.

(Oh please don’t tell me to fuck off and vote for BN, because I really want to know)

dr tan: like who and like what? :) tell me more.

  4. # 4 Dr. Tan Says:

Won’t mention names, and cannot exactly pull out events from the back of my hand, but alot of bloggers seem to just baselessly criticise the ruling party.

I’m sure all parties, like humans have their faults and strengths.

But most bloggers, like all humans do, bitch about everything.

And well, even if I would remember who it would not be nice to point them out. I forgot to put my question properly, why vote for the opposition?

  5. # 5 nat Says:

    funny you should ask :)

  6. # 6 polytikus Says:

may i refer you to a brilliant piece here:

    http://jelas.info/2008/02/06/does-the-opposition-deserve-your-vote/

my short answer is: i believe the opposition will do a better job than BN. i guess i’ve seen, heard and experienced enough to make that choice on my own. and it is yours to do the same.

what bloggers bitch about is their problem, really. who cares what other bloggers rant out there? if you want to know about opposition is about, go to the opposition blogs and judge for yourself. at the end of the day it is your own opinions and decisions that matters most, not others. and opposition are the ones doing the work, not the bitchy bloggers :)

    nat: eeee, you’re pre-empting me! :P

  8. # 8 Harrison bin Hansome Says:

    Dr Tan,

I have read your poor (sorry I mean piss-poor) commenteries.

If you ever watch RTMs or even TV3 and others, you willl only hear, see, BN propaganda.

This does not apply in the 1st world countries with the only exclusion of Singapore perhaps. In the US Presidential Campaign, all are given equilibrium of time and space so that the American people can choose upon viewing and hearing who’s the best to vote for.

Political bloggers may transgressed a bit in hitting out at the government. If they are given the US mandate to air thier view, I beleive I will not content that BN are unjust, that is if the electorate are not subjected to foull plays.

Your views are unbecoming. You are a dinosaur. Your ideas are valid in the stoneage. How old are you?

  9. # 9 A Concerned Malaysian Says:

    Why vote for opposition?

My take is simple….. until the day we have a balanced power in Parliament, we should continue to vote for opposition. First is to deny BN’s 2/3 majority. Next is to progress towards a two-party system in this country (if that will ever happen).

If one can keep this objective in mind, he/she will be able to keep his/her head above the water (and the noises in the media) and vote for opposition (regardless of party and candidate). Simple.

And I am betting my hard-earned money for this cause. I have donated RM2,000 in the last couple of weeks to the opposition.

    regards,
    A Concerned Malaysian

  10. # 10 Dr. Tan Says:

    Thanks Nat and poly.

@Harrison - You’re a shining example of why I have my qualms about the opposition. I mentioned that the media is BN’s propaganda playground, likewise the net is the oppositions. Perhaps I’m acting like a dinosaur because I see political bloggers/wannabes bitching about everything.

There you’ve just did it, shot me for erm, wanting to know?

@Poly - I think these people are not marketing themselves well. Something wrong about not knowing, and wanting to know? I think you should know that I’ve never been reading much about politics.

@ACM - Thanks. I believe in that as well, keeping them on their toes to make them buck up.

  11. # 11 polytikus Says:

    lol.

look, bloggers don’t necessary always speak for the opposition. that’s typical BN propaganda for you that ‘oh all bloggers are opposition supporters’. that’s hardly the case if you chance upon very prominent umno bloggers around. i don’t know how put off you will be when they say that chinese should go back to china and the NEP should last forever and ever. maybe that will prompt you to ask them, why vote for BN?

we all grew up with BN propaganda, myself included. and it takes a genuinely concerned person to seek information to see the alternative side of things. in your case, you don’t read politics, then how do you know what the opposition stands for and what limited circumstances they work in? to judge the opposition based on some random bloggers opinions …. i really think that’s jumping the gun and judging bloggers and the opposition far too harshly.

if a death of a friend has not convinced you that changes need to happen and it starts with giving the opposition a louder voice in parliament and more media space, i really don’t know what will. i just hope in time you will find it. you need to open your heart, be patient and listen to the rational voices. this includes getting interested in politics, really. not necessary political theories, mind you - just how things work and the issues on the ground. itu dah cukup.

harrison doesn’t represent the opposition. neither is he a political blogger. i don’t really see why his opinion should shape your views concerning the opposition. i recommend some blogs on the right. try nat, anwar, kit siang, tony pua, eli wong or parti-pas.org.

  12. # 12 Harrison bin Hansome Says:

    Politikus,

With the exclusion of your last paragraph, you made your point in your last post. Having experienced over and over again, and views by expats that Bolehland loses an estimated RM100 billion to corruption since 1980s, I presumed it’s due even for a 15 year old to have the perspective of the BN-government’s misrule that led to the rot and any right-minded person would vote this corrupted government out.

“harrison doesn’t represent the opposition. neither is he a political blogger. i don’t really see why his opinion should shape your views concerning the opposition. i recommend some blogs on the right. try nat, anwar, kit siang, tony pua, eli wong or parti-pas.org.”—-my dear friend, Politikus, whom I admired (secretly). Don’t tell Nat Okie? Hehe.

Ah Ha, You got me right, almost. I am apolitical tho being offered to join some political parties by someone before. I will fight/vote for the right causes for all Malaysians of all diversity of race that no one is above another, racially speaking. Totally against ISA and calling for a total independent IPCMC and a neutral, unvenal electoral Commission is my primary agenda.

How can u be sure that I am not a political blogger? Does my blog needs to exhibit my name-Harrison bin Hansome? Now, trust me, not too many Malays are spaeking like me because of my beleif in liberalisms, human rights, good governance.

i think you know this that Raja Petra has been sued by someone. If there is any financial helpwe can offer, organise it. We can’t let this man down.

  14. # 14 polytikus Says:

    harrison: so what’s your link?

  15. # 15 Dr. Tan Says:

@harrison - Well, just because I never bothered with politics doesn’t mean that I cannot start reading and being interested.

And I beleif (you taught me this) that I do not exhibit traits of a 15 year old. Sure I wasn’t articulate in my questioning, try speaking on a subject u (from you again) are unfamilar with and I’ll like to see how well u pose a question.

@poly - Nah wasn’t the death of the friend that sparked this. As Wei said, its the consumers who ask for fast buses. I noticed that amongst my friends too. I beleif that that those people spaek (Harrison again, snigger) what a large number of consumers want.

While I won’t entirely attribute the bus crash to the government (lets not talk about bus crashes anymore, I don’t quite like them), of course there are some fault on their part to play.

But do we want to live in a nanny state?

  16. # 16 Dr. Tan Says:

I forgot to add that I looked back at those people who relentlessly bitch about the government.

I’m not sure if they’re affliliated to the Opposition (deserves some capitalisation I think). Probably there just to talk stories. I think my question has been answered.

    Sekian

  17. # 17 Dr. Tan Says:

Oh bloody I wrote a long reply and it got lost.

    pfft

I said quite a wee bit of things which elude me now, but I’ve come to the conclusion (sparked by you) that yeah, those people who bitch endlessly are not affliliated. They’re just writing for the heck of it.

I’ve never really paid much attention to politics, which I made my earlier conclusions. My desire to know more was dormant for quite a while, while reading those BN bashers.

Nope, nothing was sparked by the bus crash. Its irrelevant.

@harrison - I don’t beleif I exhibit traits of a 15year old. I’ll like to see u spaek to experts in a field u are unfamilar with, and see how articulate you are. Now buck up on your spelling because it makes your comments look piss poor.

Picking on my political inexperience does not make you a bigger person, like how me picking on your spelling errors doesn’t change anything except make me look like an ass.

That is what I am trying to make you think of me, by emulating you. I didn’t come here to get fucked for nothing. Alright?

  18. # 18 Dr. Tan Says:

    Oh cilakak now it appears.

  19. # 19 polytikus Says:

hell no, i don’t want a nanny state. but the thing is, malaysia has been a nanny state since independence or at least, since 1971.
