Sorry to pinch this from Mkini but you must all read this!

BMC fracas: Police beat up youth

By his account, he was only a curiosity-seeker who wanted to know what was going on at the site of a disputed barricade near Bandar Mahkota Cheras (BMC) last night.

In no time at all, however, Chang Jiun Haur was soaked in his own blood after being repeatedly beaten by 20 riot squad (FRU) personnel armed with batons and kicked with boots.

Chang, 21, his sister and two friends were driving away from the site of the barricade about 11.30pm, when their car was surrounded by police personnel who had earlier dealt with a fracas involving BMC residents.

A high-ranking police officer at the scene claimed that Chang had run over a FRU personnel with his car.

“He asked for it. He ran over a policeman and he got what he deserved,” the officer told Malaysiakini a few minutes after the incident.

(THE ARROGANCE!!!!! GRRRR ROARRRR!!!)

Asked to identify the person who was hit by the car, the officer had initial difficulty in persuading the individual to come forward.

When he did so, the man - who appeared unscathed - claimed: “He tried to run me over… look at my baton, it is broken. What more evidence do you want?”

However, a police officer who took Chang to the Kajang Hospital said none of the personnel had been hit by the car.

This absolutely SICKENS me. It was a complete abuse of power by the FRU (Fucking Reserve Units). Honestly, I can barely contain my outrage!! Reading this made my blood boil! How can the fuckers beat this youth up for reckless driving? The police is suppose to do the warning and arrest first. The FRU had absolutely no right to beat up anybody. No one is above the law. The state should be charging these 20 assholes for assault and causing grievous bodily harm! In fact, if anything is to happen to Chang, the FRU must be charged for attempted murder.

Take note the police said he did not run anybody over. Chang DID NOT deserve anything but protection from the law and not getting beaten up by those who enforce the law.

So just because of this …

… we have this?!

I’m sending an email to IGP (What? No email? Stupid dinosaur public service - nah, fax number: 03-22725613) and Home Ministry (pro@mois.gov.my) protesting against this!

I have very little respect for the police. Having been jeered by them, cat-whistled by them, given the run around by them and let’s not forget the shit Nat went through because the cops fucked up in their investigations last July. Their arrogance is unbelievable! What are we paying taxes in up keeping these people for?

To protect us or beat us up? :(

To be quite honest I’m rather surprised more people haven’t pointed out that even assuming Chang had run over someone with his car, he had the right to a fair trial and a presumption of innocence. Unless he was resisting arrest, the police had no right to physically assault him. He definitely has reason to sue for battery, I’d say, though I’m not optimistic he will succeed in our court system. Whether he can get the public prosecutor to charge the police for an actual crime is highly questionable, though, so a civil suit would still make more sense. Make the bastards pay.

    Harapkan pagar, pagar makan padi,
    Harapkan polis, polis jadi buli.

Policemen/ FRU should be protecting the citizens. Did the policemen arrest the 20 thugs that stopped the residents from removing the concrete block at BMC earlier? But instead, TWENTY (20) FRU beaten an UNARMED citizen.

In the earlier incident, why didn’t the policemen stop Grand Saga from constructing the barricade as the land belongs to the statement government (as claimed by Pakatan Rakyat representatives) and not Grand Saga but used water cannon to disperse the residents who protested the act of Grand Saga building barricade to block the road? Who was the man behind giving instruction to the policemen/ FRU to do so?

In general, I have very very little respect for the police as well. (Of course they are some good policemen around)

Few years back, I took the wrong way the led me to the Parliament entrance gate. One policeman threatened me that it was an offence for public to be at the Parliament entrance gate and asked for RM 20.

Of course I didn’t pay. I should have jot down his ID number or name at least…

This happened not only once. I came to know this when similar incidence that happened to others was published in newspaper.

To find out the truth, watch this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ErehM-q3rSc

At the point of 35sec onward, you heard the police cautioning its own personnel “reporter… reporter sana…”, fearing their brutality would be caught on record. Subsequently Mkini reporter who shot the video was kept to a distance from the scene, where the victim was beaten up seriously.

Given such circumstances, I would bet the baton was broken up by someone after the incident to justify police brutality.

    Judge for yourself.

Are you sure what the police really said?? O_o?? Sounds… too arrogant. Is malaysiakini trying to push hatred towards the police publishing that? Well, i’m not sure about the truth on that one. BUT BEATING UP A PERSON LIKE THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!

Let the family file a report, sue them if possible and let the truth be let out! let us verify the situation ourselves.

sandy: umm, you can try going to bandar mahkota cheras to night and ask the policemen yourself? it would be great public service if you do. don’t forget to bring a camera and a tape recorder! but don’t say this is a reporter’s job! since you alluded that you don’t trust the news organisation, show us a thing or two about truth reporting k? thanks!

  10. # 10 Malaysian Police 90 percent uneducated perverts and infidels Says:

Most of the police force members are not highly educated, that’s why they join the police force, because the can’t get a job anywhere else. Many are also suffering from mild mental disorders which makes them like the nature of the job because it gives them a sense of power that was not there before. They wear a uniform and carry firearms and suddenly they think they are the big kahunas walking around, and fantasize that they have big manhoods overnight and have the power to harass girls at nightclubs, whereas before, they could not even get a girl to look at them. Plus, being in the police force allows them to accumulate lots of money from bribes and other possible deals with criminals, prominent families and big-time lawyers. Where else would they be able to get this kind of money? So in short, most of them, like our politicians, are essentially infidels and unclean souls, because they pretend to follow religion and yet secretly or openly engage in all kinds of dishonest, perverted and criminal activities.
